Replace folding doors with regular door panels

Good evening dear community,

we are about to renovate/refurbish our home soon! Some things will be renewed or replaced. However, we are unsure about one thing! The previous owner installed door frames with folding interior doors on the ground floor. These are actually in like-new condition—but we do not like the folding doors at all! Would it be theoretically possible to keep the frame but replace the folding door with a regular door leaf? What do you think is sensible: to replace the frame as well or leave it in place, and if so, is it a huge effort to fit standard door leaves into the existing frame? The frame must be replaced, everything else is uneconomical. Why do the doors absolutely have to go? I find them quite funny at first glance.

You can ask the door manufacturer about it, maybe it’s possible and they still have the color-matched door leaf in their program; or the carpenter can still modify it. Is it a standard size? I’m not familiar with folding doors and you can’t see the hinges in the photo (do these doors have regular door leaf hinges?), but that’s how I would approach it. Removing the frames only makes sense if the above options don’t work or if you don’t like the color anyway. If these doors are really like new and also high-quality, I would rather keep them in. New proper doors are expensive.

Why not? At first, after reading the headline, I expected those ugly things from the '70s that look like a brown faux leather jacket with a handle on it, but what’s in the photo actually looks quite elegant. I wouldn’t be in a hurry to tear that out.
