Hello! :)
I am faced with the task of having a small house renovated, but I have absolutely no idea about anything.
The whole process should not drag on forever, so I don’t have all the time in the world to extensively and thoroughly inform myself about the many different aspects.
Therefore my question: How would you approach this?
- I had thought of bringing 2-3 architects into the house and listening to each of them about what they would do/how they would proceed, etc...
I had thought that an architect should be independent and actually has no interest in pushing anything on me
- Furthermore, I could have some renovation-specialized construction companies come and also hear from them what needs to be done. -Knowing full well that, unlike the architect, they want to sell something. -But simply with the background of getting additional opinions/information
- I don’t know what other professional groups there are besides architects and construction companies that it would make sense to consult. - Building biologists? Energy consultants? Do you have suggestions on who else it would be sensible to get advice from?
- Then, hopefully, after consulting architects and construction companies, when I have a clearer picture and a clearer opinion about what and how things should be done, I would put the whole thing in the hands of an independent architect who then commissions one or more construction companies (all of course in consultation with me) and oversees the entire execution.
And if you have a tip on how to find a good architect or other expert (unfortunately I don’t know anyone in the area whom I could ask), I would like to hear how to do that.
That’s roughly how I think about it :). Is that good? How would you do it (in my situation)
Thank you very much for your help!!
P.S.
It is mainly about the following aspects
- Insulation
- Water in the basement :( - How to make it watertight?
- Optimal energy supply for the house
