Hello everyone,

I have some questions for the wood and painting experts.

Last week, I had our wooden windows and wooden shutters renovated by a master painter, and I am not completely happy with the result.

He used a Cetol Novatech Next glaze.

What went wrong here and how can this still be corrected?

Thanks in advance for your answers

Where are the after pictures?

No professional did that with such runny noses! I’ll guess... myHamxxxx - right?

This work was delivered to us by an independent master painter and varnisher, a state-certified designer, even with his own homepage, which states:

Um Ihnen ein perfektes Ergebnis abzuliefern, legen wir größten Wert auf sorgfältige Vorbereitungen und eine saubere Arbeitsweise.

We complained about his work and received the following response:

Solche Nahaufnahmen sind eigentlich nicht zulässig und auch unnötig, insbesondere an Stellen vor denen man im Notfall nicht dauerhaft steht und dadurch keine wirkliche optische Beeinträchtigung hat.

No, but he is pressing for payment. What to do?

I believe there is a mediation board for every craft. I would contact them. Or get in touch with the [Innung]. At least do not pay anything at the moment. To me, this looks like a botched job, but I am not a painting or varnishing expert. If you pay, you no longer have any leverage to make him fix it. Sanding everything down and treating it again could theoretically be more expensive than the work he has done so far. Don’t sit on it, actively work towards a solution. And definitely get professional help/support involved. That should (the mediation board) not cost anything at first.
