Renewal of PVC pipes required

Hello, We are currently renovating and our gas and water installer said that the water pipes absolutely have to be replaced. That was not in our budget.. do PVC pipes have to be replaced? The house was built in 1996 and according to him, pipes would not be installed like that today. I have attached a photo. Best regards

Just because they are no longer installed today? Aside from the fact that I am always suspicious of such sweeping statements.

The nice thing about PVC is that it lasts forever. With rigid PVC (for pipes), you also don’t have a problem with plasticizers. Additionally, you have fewer problems with deposits, whether from dirt (wastewater) or lime.

I wouldn’t change anything there... especially when I see that it was probably done quite cleanly back then.

But I am happy to learn more about it!
