For reasons of appreciation, I personally would not disfigure the facade; I estimate the wall thickness of 36.5 cm plus interior plaster, even in the worst case (solid brick on the inside), as not legally in need of improvement, possibly there is even pumice behind it (I have not been able to examine the facade that closely yet).

I understand that too. But we will definitely change the appearance. Brick look is not an option for us.

I just read something about a curtain wall? Can this be installed over the brick? It’s more expensive, but it would be worth it to us. What do you think?

I already said this twice, and that should be enough ;-) Yes, various types of curtain wall facades can also be installed in front of a clinker brick facade, even in combinations. But please don't ruin the house with a large panel facade, because then, in combination with its construction, it will get an "inappropriate" note, basically in the style of a run-down country bordello, so you might as well just screw on a neon sign "Club Miranda" ;-)

I don't understand the whole approach - it's the parental home, which can be taken over very cheaply. Only, it is absolutely not liked, so in the end everything is supposed to be renewed, including the roof shape and exterior walls. That can't be economically feasible at all. Maybe it's simply the wrong house if you don't want to tear it down?

And are these real bricks or just [Riemchen]?

We have now made significant progress since the draftsman was on site and brought the development plan. This means the roof shape is settled. It must not be built differently.

We will probably proceed as follows:

1. The roof remains as is, will be insulated and retiled.

2. The brick facade will be "masked" by a curtain facade ;) (please don't be too hard on me)

3. The interior will be completely renovated (new heating system including underfloor heating, new screed, new wiring, etc.)

4. Next to the house, an extension of 4x14 meters will be built using timber frame construction, creating a parents' wing. That means parents' bedroom, bathroom, and dressing room all on the ground floor (this is necessary because we are only allowed to build a single storey).

Thank you all for the feedback!

I just haven't clearly seen yet how they are integrated into the entire wall structure, but they are "real" bricks.
