Red lime plaster added value? Which color and how often to paint?

Hello community,

we are currently in negotiations with three general contractors. All three brought up the topic of red lime plaster. For me, this is hard to understand, as their statements were totally different:
1: "Yes, red lime is great, but so is the Mercedes. That costs about 15,000 euros more."
2: "I would definitely plaster with red lime. It is definitely worth the additional 5,000 euros."
3: "Red lime is a great thing. If you do the painting yourself and we find a compromise on the color, we will replace the red lime 1:1 with cement plaster including painting."

Could the experts please give a brief assessment of the situation here?

Also, I wonder which silicate paint should be used. It starts with a 40 euro hardware store paint, goes up to 80 euros from well-known brands, and up to 200 euros+ for the Knauf version. Is the simplest solution here to talk to the general contractor or the painter and have them supply it?

Edit: I only realized afterwards that the topic is probably better suited for the "Mason / Painter / Plasterer / Electrician" subforum and have reposted it there.

[TH]Advantages[/TH]
[TH]Disadvantages[/TH]

Gypsum plaster Interior Wall and ceiling Moisture-regulating, good indoor climate, cost-effective, flame-retardant not water-repellent
Gypsum-lime plaster Interior Wall and ceiling Climate-regulating, good indoor climate not suitable for wet rooms
Lime plaster Interior Wall and ceiling highly vapor-permeable, very good indoor climate, mold-inhibiting cost-intensive

Of course, you can choose the "Mercedes" in every trade, although this brand no longer necessarily has to stand for quality. This question arises with every building material, with bricks, heating pipes, insulation, paint, floors, kitchen, tiles, technical equipment, etc. As long as there are any ecological reasons behind such a consideration, in my opinion it only makes sense if you consistently follow such a concept, otherwise you only have a spotty eco or other quality standard and not elsewhere in the house. I would also choose the quite "normal" interior plaster, but then apply a high-quality paint, meaning a well covering, preferably low in pollutants and especially easy to apply. As I said, I can't say anything specific about this product because the standard would be sufficient for me; but I think the same question will come up for you everywhere. For me, that would be too much money.

My entire interior plastering was cheaper than what number 1 charges as a surcharge (!). Just to put that into perspective.

A surcharge of 15,000 is quite a statement of course... We got 3 floors with the Kalkinnenputz (KIP Schwenk) + Edelputz for about 15,000 (2.5 years ago). According to my research at the time: all industrial lime plasters still contain white cement, including Rotkalk or KIP. Pure lime is only possible if you mix it yourself. However, this information is more interesting for monument protection than for new construction. => in other words, industrial lime plaster is somewhere between pure lime plaster and lime cement. We are very satisfied with the KIP. But we would probably be just as happy with a lime cement :)

We were immediately out with offer 1 as well. Offer 3, meaning "you don't have to pay an extra fee for the red lime plaster, but you take care of the paint and the painting," is currently our favorite for other reasons. So that's a no-brainer, right?
