Hello everyone,

we want to start our construction project in Central Hesse near Gießen in 2016 and are currently looking for a good construction partner. There are some local general contractors, but unfortunately, I can hardly find any reviews about them (e.g. Franz and Lotz, Ernst W. BU, Bickel-Bau, Bautrend Nidda).

I have already had initial talks with some of the aforementioned, but I notice that they are rather skeptical about current technical possibilities, such as ventilation systems, and have implied to me indirectly that they are reluctant to deviate from the standard scheme (Energy Saving Ordinance house with gas and token solar in a 36.5 Ytong building structure).

Can anyone give recommendations for this area? Would the local Town & Country possibly be any good? Are there maybe supraregional providers?

Our plans: solid house, possibly KFW55, no basement.

Thank you very much for your feedback and have a nice weekend!

Massivhaus Mittelrhein GmbH, Mendig, I can recommend. We built with them. However, I don't know if their radius extends that far. Up to Limburg is known to me. A colleague is about to hand over her house and installed brine water heat pump, 42.5 cm Ytong, and central ventilation system. So far, she is also very satisfied.

Every construction company has an interest in building the way they always do; otherwise, they couldn’t offer the low house prices if they had five different construction methods in their program.

Fingerhaus is based in Hesse and has an excellent reputation, in case a prefabricated house is an option for you. However, Fingerhaus mostly sells catalog houses, i.e. exterior dimensions, the position of the staircase, and roof construction are not freely selectable but can be chosen from various catalog variants. Interior walls, windows, knee wall, and fittings are freely selectable.

Otherwise, you probably have building inspectors (e.g. Bauherren-Schutzbund) who can inform you about which company rarely or frequently has problems and troubles.

In the field of prefabricated houses, Fingerhaus is certainly a good address, but don’t let their vouchers blind you. I would definitely recommend visiting the factory. It is very interesting and informative. Bien-Zenker, Okal Haus, or Weberhaus The list is long.

Have you ever been to a model house park and looked around?

You can definitely change all the dimensions at Fingerhaus if necessary. I also had Massivhaus Mittelrhein in close consideration, it made a very good impression, and the quality at the [Bemusterungszentrum] is okay, we looked at it beforehand. Although we chose a different provider, we also switched to timber frame construction.

I know, I did not say that, I only claimed that they prefer to sell their houses from the catalog, i.e., they charge more extra for individual designs than, for example, Keitel-Haus, where every house is planned individually anyway.
