I think it’s just about whether the tub is on the raw floor or the screed

We have it on the raw subfloor. You get used to stepping down slightly. With all the tubs on the screed that I know of so far, you literally had to step down from the tub because there was also some air between the screed and the tub. But these are all older models – no idea if they now come directly on the screed.

Yes, very true, it is about placing the bathtub on a raw screed floor. There it would sit on a foam block or something like that. Compared to the normal variant, you gain an estimated 10 cm, in any case the floor structure is about 18 cm. So not a wild static challenge.

The thing with the children is probably an argument, yes. At the moment, overall more speaks in favor of the conventional construction for me.

Placing it on the raw floor is what I consider the current state of the art. The question of whether the bathtub is standing on the finished floor does not arise for me at all.

Therefore, my remarks as well

Ours also stands on the raw floor, but since the tub has something underneath, it is only 1-2 cm lower than the floor. I find that quite comfortable, and bathing the children works well too. However, my wife has a completely different opinion. So it’s a matter of taste.

Bathing children works very well when the bathtub is on the raw floor. I even find it pleasant. Falling in and climbing up unfortunately works very well in both variants.

Does your personal "state of the art" also apply to freestanding bathtubs? By the way, I consider those to be state of the art.
