Do you mean that it skips? I don't think we have an extreme infestation now. Within 2-3 months, a few small piles of flour have accumulated on the glass bottom. Other parts of the cabinet seem fine. The other two cabinets from the line also seem unaffected. We have seen/found exactly one adult beetle. Yesterday it was sitting inside the cabinet, today to my horror outside. My husband photographed it, then we eliminated it. I sure hope so o_O

The probability is not high, but the impact in case it happens. I also don't think I will have a car accident, and yet I buckle up. (Statistically, after 30+ years of accident-free driving as a frequent driver, it would be my turn sometime)

Apart from the warranty claim: We have continuous frost here until Monday morning down to minus 10 degrees. If you put the thing outside under such conditions now for 24 hours, the little creature should have caught quite a bit without any chemicals. Then you should be able to place the "post mortem" back inside the apartment with a clear conscience. However, when purchasing a new one, the way of exchange is of course your right - and in the end probably the best solution.

My nightmare with the timber frame house. I also get nervous about every beetle here. But I have also often asked myself whether I am bringing pests into the house with solid wood furniture. How do you prevent that?

With us, there are only solid wood furniture - my whole life long (and that’s been quite a while) ... we don’t take any precautions. If I notice something somewhere (loose, fresh wood dust), I would work with heat, unless the piece fits in the freezer (which unfortunately is already full).

In my opinion, attention should be enough as a "precaution" ...
