Dear home builders and owners,

our window installer is installing Beck + Heun Raffstores (80 flat slats) for us.

In many reports, I have read that the rail version is the better choice due to stability, wind susceptibility/noise, etc.
My only concerns are the appearance with this version. We want to possibly do them in the same color as the windows (gray aluminum RAL 7009) so that it stands out as little as possible.
From your point of view, are there any advantages that speak in favor of the cable guidance?

Second question:
solved or unsolved? Is the wear really that much higher with the unsolved version?
What have you experienced / what do you recommend?

Thanks & regards,
Martin

We are currently asking ourselves these questions with a tendency towards rail guidance.

Cable guidance is visually perhaps nicer (which is subjective) because it is more delicate and unobtrusive in the raised position.

Wind load may be better absorbed in light wind because the cable gives way. However, the venetian blind could possibly hit the window in return?

What needs to be considered with rail guidance; the facade builder/exterior plasterer potentially has a bit more work because they cannot complete the reveal in one step, but must instead apply it anew between the rail and the window.

Rail-guided systems exist visually analogous to roller shutters, meaning the rails are in a profile within the reveal. There is even a version that is flush-mounted.

Just as an example: Roma Modulo.P (flush-mounted). See product brochure from Roma.

Flat slat with cable is probably the most wind-prone of all variants.

Three-arch slat/S-slat is significantly more wind-resistant. Without cable, also not with protruding guide rails, but a variant like the example above: significantly less wind-prone.
