Question about basement costs

Tsk... men... as if there will be money left later! But building an overpriced storage room... You also don’t feel like constantly carrying garden furniture and bicycles up and down (through the house). Better to have a little normal luxury on the ground and upper floors, meaning kitchen etc. In 5 years he’ll have enough rooms to store stuff in the upstairs. But who am I telling this to?! I don’t think you’ll get anywhere with that, the overpriced argument or the warranty will probably win. Fingers crossed for you.

I wanted to report to you now about the (preliminary) result. The basement builder sent out an offer: €36,000, provided my husband and friends help with the construction.

That is DEFINITELY too expensive

*yes!* I knew it!!!! (Here I’m allowed to say it ).

However, another basement builder has gotten in touch. My husband wanted to have an offer from him weeks ago, but it never came. He is at €28,000 (I can’t imagine how such different prices come about).

In my opinion, this basement builder is out of the running because he is simply not reliable. It took him ages just to find time to look at the property and then he delivered the offer 4 weeks late. Well, not even properly delivered, only communicated over the phone. He still hasn’t sent it in writing in the last 3 days ...

I don’t even want to know how often and if at all he has time to build a basement ...

Oh, forgot:

The earthworks would have been added to the costs, which my husband probably didn't even consider. For excavation, transport, and disposal, I would have come to about €12,000.

Of course, with the base slab we also have to pay for earthworks, but due to the significantly lower m3 they should be less significant.
