Good evening everyone,

we have planned a panoramic fireplace as a room divider in our living area.

The living area is about 60sqm (150m3).

There are some beautiful fireplaces from well-known manufacturers that we find visually appealing, but in our opinion, all the good fireplaces have a nominal output between 9kw-12kw.

According to research on the internet, that is probably a bit too much... however...

Are there any experiences from people who have already had to make such a decision?

What if you simply put in less wood...
(I know it is said that the glass then gets sootier faster - any experiences?)

Thanks in advance!

The trick is thermal mass. The oven must not release the heat into the room, but only the storage material. There are also ready-made ovens that can do this.

Exactly, the storage mass ensures a distribution of the heat output over a longer time axis. Build a basic stove with a long smoke channel through a lot of storage mass. We had the stove built by Ortner because we were convinced by the air supply principle and the simple and effective burn control. We then discussed the design with the stove builder. Our stove doesn't share a room, but of course, that is also possible.

The problem I see with it is the three-sided glazing. (see picture)

So far, I haven’t found a good solution on the internet for a panoramic fireplace with storage elements.

There are some fireplace inserts that have around 9KW nominal output (power range then from about 5kw-10kw).

Has anyone decided on a 9KW stove and had experience with it?

I think you should not buy such a stove solely for aesthetic reasons, otherwise it might "only" remain a room divider. Therefore, of course, the overall concept of your house is important, use of underfloor heating, personal habits regarding temperature, open room design. The fact that some homebuilders dispense with such a stove should make you think. The idea of installing such an expensive stove and then only using it occasionally and at maximum economy flame would not occur to me, because with a panorama fireplace you also want to see the panorama of a proper flame and not that of a lighter. The more panorama, that is glass, the more heat escapes through this way into your room. Forward temperature. You will enter details about this, such as room height, room design, planned type of use, underfloor heating yes or no but as already mentioned here your focus should definitely be more on storage capacity than on panorama capability.

Hi
I have a SCHMID 9kW stove as a room divider. However, it also has a relatively large amount of storage mass. Among other things, I had it built up to ceiling height.
We always fire it with about ~3kg of wood.
Our couch is quite close, but we still have comfortable temperatures.

Does the picture above show your house?

: great fireplace!
Buy yourself an ash vacuum cleaner. I can only recommend it :)
