We are building without a fireplace. There are many solutions on the internet regarding this. Unfortunately, hardly any other sensible ideas. At the moment, we tend to omit the wall to see later how it looks without. My wife is considering a half-height wall.. As I said, we find it difficult to imagine the whole thing.

Then just leave out the wall and create it afterward if you really miss it. I imagine that is easier than making the wall now and tearing it out later...?

My first thought would be to leave out the slanted wall, extend the right kitchen wall to 151 cm, and then place the entrance accordingly on the wall between dining and living areas. This way, the door could also be sensibly hinged the other way around, and the kitchen would be somewhat more hidden, if that is the purpose of this intended partition wall.

That was also the first plan. But we decided on the slanted variant because then we can get past the kitchen<->wall better and the entrance situation is nicer. We don’t want to burst directly into the living room. (Hence also the idea with the recessed wall) But I think we’ll leave it without building a wall and add one or with a shelf as Yvonne suggested if needed [emoji106]

I find this wall, which is neither fish nor fowl, pointless. If it were a separation between living and cooking, yes – but like this, as a separation between living and eating, and on top of that like a privacy wall – any piece of furniture would do the job better than such a wall partition where no one knows what the artist wants to tell us with it.

We have a half-height wall between the living room and dining room and find it very positive because it makes the living area feel cozier and we have gained additional space for a sideboard in the dining room. But the whole thing is always a matter of taste.
