The manhole cover is not airtight. In the manhole from Jung (PKS something), in addition to the pressure pipe and supply line DN160, there are also 2 prepared holes DN110 for technology and final ventilation. The supply line for the pumps and pressure bells (?) for measuring the water level goes through the technology. There is an airtight plug for this. You can simply lay the final ventilation with DN110 away from the manhole; there is then a kind of tower. So far, no odor has been detectable with us even at high temperatures.

Hello teh_M,

thank you. Then we are probably on the right track here.

Best regards

can you please help me again with this matter. How did you solve the backflow loop? Our pump shaft is about 5.5 meters below the backflow level. Since it is difficult for us to simply install a backflow loop. The approved application from the city refers to DIN 12056. We have to protect against backflow here. Until now I thought to set the shaft below house level and if water bypasses the pump (which should actually not happen) then the shaft would overflow and water would flow into the garden. The garden is a bit lower. That would be the lesser evil. Gladly also other opinions or experiences.

Hmm, I don’t know the standard. I haven’t installed any backflow loop at all. For me, the difference is not as big as with you (the base slab is slightly at channel level, the property has a steep slope at the beginning). If you get the PKS-D1000-D40 (or something similar), Jung provides datasheets etc. I attached 2 pictures.

The picture from above has 2 shut-off valves toward the pressure outlet. In front of them are ball heads at the top of the riser line per pump that secure against backflow (3rd picture in yellow)? I don’t know if that already counts as backflow protection and replaces the backflow loop. That’s how it is for me :D You’d have to call Jung pumps about that.

The critical case is when the power goes out, and for that I have an overflow; first, the cistern fills up, then it goes via a DN160, where rainwater normally drains, to the back part of the property. Then I actually have to clean everything but the wastewater is not in the house.

Thank you for the super fast response. The overflow idea sounds very good. I was thinking along similar lines. I would place the shaft (circle in red) below house level. If there is a failure, the pump shaft fills up and wastewater comes out of the lid instead of flowing back into the house. Around the shaft, I would design it so that it drains into the garden. Do you mean the pump shaft when you say cistern, or do you have an additional construction? If you mean the pump shaft, how did you connect DIN 160 to the shaft? In the sketch, there is only the inlet for wastewater and the pressure line towards the sewer.
