Hello everyone,
as part of my house renovation, the existing house is getting a 10cm exterior wall insulation (mineral).

In this process, I want to prepare the installation of decentralized fans in some rooms.
Preparing means pulling power under the insulation to the intended spot and later installing the fan with a core drilling if needed, without having to open up much inside the existing structure.

My plumbing specialist (through whom I also get the fans) said I should already lay the cable into the interior and store it there in a flush-mounted box.
Does anyone have experience with how to best do such preparation?

Cable into the interior: yes or no?
What options are there to store the cable in a box without causing too much damage inside?
In the end, the fan has to be connected. That means later one has to go from the box to the fan - how do I best handle that?
What else should be considered or has anyone done something like this and has a few tips for me?

Regards
Chris

Install the fans directly. Many have a normal power cable attached, which can be plugged into the socket first. You can pull "proper" cables later and then connect the fans there. It could look like this with a normal cable and plug (stock photo):

Oh yes, if you prefer to pull cables beforehand (whether inside or outside), pay attention to a few points:
Should the fans be networked with each other?
==> can be done with cable or via radio/Wi-Fi
==> if with cable, plan a suitable control cable
==> if necessary, pass power from one fan to the next for networking

P.S. If cables, better inside than outside.

Normally, this is done on the inside. You would have to drill the core hole and then make a slot for the cable on the side. A plastic pipe goes into the core hole itself, and then the fan, which fits snugly inside. You can't get a cable through there. Make sure that the core hole has a slight slope outward. You should control each fan individually, so pull the cables individually into the HAR to be as flexible as possible. Use 5x1.5, then you still have a reserve for additional functions. But. Is it even allowed according to fire protection regulations to lay cables on the exterior wall under the insulation?

The connection of the fan is typically inside and in front of it is a ceramic element. That means if the hole is the right size, no cable goes through there. How do you want to access the connection? Beware, there are fans with 12V and with 230V.

Sorry for the late response, but I didn't manage to unpack such a fan earlier. In the enclosed instructions, I found the following info (see picture). So, as described for example by , the connection is made from the inside.

So I think the best option right now would be to pull a cable parallel to the respective drill hole from the outside - no idea how tight you can get there - or possibly make the core drilling a bit larger to lay the cable inside.
Maybe inside, put the cable in a small surface-mounted box and run a thin cable duct to the fan. It wouldn't be a visual highlight though...
