Hello everyone,

we are currently looking for a company to take on the construction of our single-family house. Although we are also in talks with architects, due to the fixed price guarantee, our preference is leaning towards a general contractor.
When building a prefabricated house, we were advised to ensure that an installation level is provided in the exterior walls so that later cable laying or new sockets do not risk damaging the vapor barrier.
Unfortunately, I have only found one prefabricated house provider who offers an installation level from the factory. I don’t know if I am allowed to mention the name?
Does anyone know of prefabricated house providers that provide an installation level or where it can be retrofitted?
Are there any general recommendations for prefabricated house providers regarding the wall structure?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards

I don’t know where you are building and who you are currently talking to. We have spoken with several local (i.e., smaller) providers, and actually, each of them offered that. It’s no rocket science... from outside to inside: plaster carrier board, then 20cm wooden studs (insulated with mineral wool or blown-in insulation), OSB, installation level, OSB with drywall, done. Absolutely standard.

Definitely also consider local providers. They are more flexible and by no means worse.

Thank you very much for the tip. We are building in the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis. Do you happen to know a recommended one there? ;)

No, but try searching for Zimmermeister Haus (zmh dot com). It is a kind of umbrella organization for the local providers.

Thank you very much - I didn't know that yet.
Looks very interesting :).
Can you say how thick the installation layer is with you or how thick it should be at least?

I would definitely recommend local providers as well. That is great.
