The installation of our LWZ 180 will be completed shortly. Two flexible pipes were routed from the utility room to the attic. From there, the supply air duct is to be routed out of the roof box and the exhaust air duct out of the roof (via a metal sleeve that is to be integrated into the roof and then receive the photographed cover).

According to the ventilation installer, the cover with the perforated grille will be installed transverse to the slope (so the grille faces up toward the ridge and down toward the eaves). I am concerned that rainwater might flow through the grille into the exhaust shaft inside the cover.

How should the penetration of the building envelope be executed? Are there standard solutions for this? Is fresh air intake through an outlet in the roof box acceptable?

Should not be a problem... provided the attic is not a cold roof or the pipes are insulated...

It is a cold roof. The pipes are flexible pipes which I believe are also minimally insulated.

Do you see a problem because of the rain that could penetrate through the cover?

The device itself is located in the utility room? Why then carry out the installation through the roof? A cold roof is actually bad. At least the device should not be there. However, it might not be a problem with the pipes in front of the device.

The device is mounted on the opposite wall (interior wall) from the window (exterior wall) in the utility room. Around the window, there is not really space for a core drill due to the ring beam, roller shutter box, etc.

Hm I'm not an expert. I don't know if such a long distance is okay or if it affects the performance. I can't say anything reliable about the [Gitter] either, but I would have the same concerns as you. Just ask again. It doesn't always help, I know, many people talk you out of concerns - they don't have to live with the consequences either. Are you sure you understood it correctly why not put the [Gitter] downward? Because the warm air then can't deflect nicely upwards?
