Oh Yvonne,
I think now we have scared off the OP with our nonsense.
Then I'll give some help for self-help. A image processing program is needed. I like IrfanView including the plug-in package, so everything refers to that:
- open jpg file
- press F12, the Drawing dialog opens
- click the ruler button
- click and hold the left mouse button at the starting point of a known distance (e.g. the 5m fire protection distance)
- drag the mouse to the end point and release
- the result window "Measure results" appears and shows the number of pixels (338.6px)
- close the result window with "OK" and repeat the process for the searched distance (left orange line 172.0px)
- proportion equation (rule of three also works): 5m/338.6=x/172.0
- solve for x: x=172.0/338.6 * 5m = 2.54m
For a measurement technician certainly child's play.
