Hello

we are currently planning a city villa and definitely want to add a double garage. this should be just under 9 meters long with an outdoor shed (garden furniture, etc.) and run along the border to the neighbor (Schleswig-Holstein allows this). but we definitely want the side walls to be clad with bricks just like the house itself, and the roof should have the same tiles as the house. (it should look like it is made from one piece) but how do I plan something like this if I don't order the garage directly? how do I know in advance what width I need to calculate? I am not allowed to leave a 10-20 cm "reserve" to the neighboring property because I would no longer be able to use it. but I also don't want 20 cm of space between the house and the garage because that looks impossible. I would like to get directly into the garage via the side entrance door through the utility room.

Why don't you order the garage directly? Do you want to build it completely by yourself? Then I would look for a suitable book in a library. Otherwise, check the Yellow Pages for a specialized company. They will tell you the width of the garage, the rest is simple math. How wide would you like it to be? We are currently planning a similar project: a city villa with an adjacent garage, connecting door to the utility room. The garage should also be larger since there will probably be no basement. So one car plus various bicycles plus workbench and space for winter tires etc. The first attempt was 6 meters by 9 meters. Seems quite wide to me, but more detailed considerations are still pending. The question about the location on the property will also arise. As far as I know, there is at least a 3 m setback from the property boundary for the house, a garage can be built within this distance (Saxony-Anhalt; only my knowledge, which may not be correct or complete). As I understand, of course the gutter etc. must also be completely on my property. On a 20 cm border strip I would lay a gravel bed (these stones, so dirt does not splash onto the facade and you have hardly any work later with plants/weeds). Beforehand, I would talk to my neighbor about the plan.
