Thanks for the answer! You are right, style is important, it won't help if the picture doesn't move me, and it also has to match the furniture and so on.

So I find a self-portrait rather "vain". If at all, only in connection with a partner/child/other bipeds or quadrupeds. Oil paintings are personally too "heavy" for me. I prefer drawn or watercolor pictures. I have commissioned such a picture twice (horse family) and am now considering whether our deceased dog should also be painted. The cost would be about €300 in chalk. So quite pricey. But there is also a lot of work behind it. For the watercolor portraits, I paid roughly €70.

Nude paintings do not belong in the bedroom, and a 40 x 50 benevolent goddess absolutely nowhere. Nude and miniature is a highly cheesy combination.

I hope they are the same size so that they can be rotated regularly.

Every few years there is a picture (collages) of the sister-in-law. Unfortunately, we usually never get the pictures that we like in the exhibition, but one of those that were not sold. :D

I think it is important that the picture matches the room with the furnishings!

I’ve seen this exactly three times among friends/acquaintances (meaning nude pictures as self-expression). I was given a tour to admire the new apartment and that included the bedroom. No, I am not prude, but there are things I simply don’t want to know about friends.
It’s probably similar for one’s own children when they realize that their parents do more than just hold hands :p

For one thing, oil paintings are not photographs, so the term "know" would already be out of place, and for another, nude pictures of real contemporaries are even more inappropriate than in small formats, naturally the peak, if they also represent the builders (except of course in your case - the email just arrived - if they were the builders from 1900).
