Yes, that's true. The company is from the neighboring town and is run by a plasterer and a mason. We also once had Heinz von Heiden in mind but we dismissed that quite quickly again. After the first exploratory meeting yesterday, we have an appointment with the architect next week. We were also clearly told that the first floor plans and designs up to an offer are free of charge.
As a small update: We were at the architect's on Tuesday and discussed size and floor plan. He will create a first draft within the next two weeks and send it to us by email. And all of this is free for us.

just a little info and a few last words in this thread: We stuck with this architect and he created and submitted all the plans, the Kfw documentation (through an energy expert), and the documents for the Kenntnisgabeverfahren. He also designed a lighting concept for the ceiling spots for us. The fee ultimately amounted to about 3600 euros, which seems fair to me.
