Pay off a semi-detached house or invest in a new building (at the employer)?

Quality of life is priceless. Commuting 120 sqm (no matter how often) is not quality of life for me. So definitely build closer to the employer. It wouldn't even be worth 3 minutes of my consideration. Especially since your finances are in order.

P.S. Maybe the bank will agree to a collateral swap. That way you save the early repayment fee (but you will still have higher interest rates than would be possible now).

So, if the employer is too far away - what could be more obvious? After 3 years build a new house closer to the employer or look for a new employer? I'm not a financial advisor, but somehow, given the circumstances (not least the increase in construction costs, interest rates, stress with planning) everything comes down to one thing: change employer? We no longer live in 1970, when it was clear in the first year of apprenticeship that you would work in the same place for 45 years and organize your entire life around someone who transfers money to you monthly. What if one of you has to change jobs due to economic or other upheavals? Build again? That would be my pragmatic approach for now :)

depends on the living conditions. If you don't have children and don't want any, I wouldn't necessarily do it and pay off the cabin
