You can get some expertise directly, and maybe get professional materials/tools at a good price. I'm already relieved that you mean only interior. Two of you with 1-3 weeks vacation, depending on quality standards.

The company no longer exists I was 16 when I started there... It's been two decades.

Hi,

we also briefly considered it but decided against it based on the experiences of acquaintances. They spent over 30 man-days (16 or 18 days working as a pair) on a 160 sqm house without a basement and saved less than €2000 after deducting material costs. I think it was even only €1500. In other words, an hourly wage of about €5... It's not worth it. The professionals are simply much faster and get the materials significantly cheaper.

With other trades like laying laminate or installing a ventilation system, you can possibly do something yourself.

Best regards,

Andreas

I have one more stupid question, but nothing about painter's fleece is mentioned in the construction description (see above, where I posted it). It's not mandatory either. So for us, the steps are: filling, sanding, priming, 2 x painting - correct?

The real money-saver through own labor in my experience with three constructions so far has always been the insulation between the rafters in the attic. That saved up to almost 10K for a very unpleasant annoying job that nobody enjoys (apparently not even the BU/GU) but could be done over a long weekend with a small team (4-5 people). But there are also people who describe painting and wallpapering as meditative work, I do not ;-)

The advantage is that you don't have to cover any furniture, etc. But I would also let the professionals do it. Every stroke is visible.
