I can definitely recommend Osmo Decoration Wax for such projects.
We simply rolled Osmo Decoration Wax over our pine wooden floor at the time. Osmo offers these colors as a glaze but also opaque. Due to a previously faulty, different attempt, I had no choice but to paint the floor opaquely. I then did that with Decoration Wax.
The result was top-notch and the floor lasted easily 10 years and is probably still in place today without any damage. I find that this Decoration Wax also has a pleasant feel; it’s not like a varnish.
Another advantage is that you don’t have to sand the floor; you can apply it directly, no pre-sanding or intermediate sanding. After years, I became bolder and painted my pine country house doors opaquely with it and later even my office windows on the inside from previously maize yellow to mud gray. Without sanding, great result.
I think I’d also be a good Osmo salesperson , but I really think it’s great. You can also mix your own color tone; back then we made a kind of cappuccino from chocolate brown and mud gray.
On their website, you can check out creative floors with this system; just as an example, because if bought there they are expensive.
Such a solid wood floor is really inexpensive at the sawmill or timber trade; later we took tongue and groove in the guest area, even that was really good. Since I have often been to Scandinavia, I can tell you that they don’t fuss around much there like we do here. There you would get a clear YES to your question whether that works.
