Hello, I just had the fixed idea that I might want to take wood flooring instead of wood parquet and then paint it white. Is that "possible" in a new build or does it look stupid? My house is a normal terraced house in the middle, with red brick on the outside. My interior taste is Scandinavian, simple, few pieces of furniture that are already a bit worn. Well, I would like to do it. I imagine it looks quite nice inside, but combined with a Bauhaus attempt rectangular house maybe a bit too much of a good thing? What do you think or does anyone even have a (white) painted floor?

Go ahead. You mean wooden floorboards, right? In chalk paint forums it is described that the eggshell paint is very abrasion-resistant... I don't really believe that  The hardware store, however, is full of possible paints, including basement paint.

The floor could also eventually look worn... that has its own charm and shows life in the house... Probably not everyone's thing here ;)

:D sounds good. If only it weren't for the floor, which is always so tedious and expensive to restore. I don't really want proper varnish, it seals everything. I was thinking of colored oil. But I'm not sure if that will be white enough. I would really like to have solid white, not some mixed look between wood and white.

... which wood do you want to use to build and lay it? White paint is available in abundance. Varnishing, glazing, liming... depending on the desire. But why not simply buy white floorboards? At least then you know what you have. I dare to doubt whether the personal effort will be cheaper and/or better.

I didn't even know that white floorboards exist. I just looked it up and indeed, they do. They even look good, not so plastic-like. Thanks for the tip, I'll keep looking.

I don't think oil is opaque.
