Hello,

we are currently building a prefabricated house with a diffusion-open construction method. The interior walls have now all been plastered. Now my question is: can I paint directly on the gypsum board surface or is it absolutely necessary to apply wallpaper or plaster first? This concerns the ceiling areas and the walls of the children's room. What is the result after painting? Which paint is suitable for diffusion-open walls?

Thank you very much in advance

How is your wall plastered? Q2 or Q3? What you must do in any case is prime the wall. Otherwise, the paint dries at different speeds. And that causes stains

Hello,

thank you for the quick response. The wall is finished with Q2 plastering.

Then I strongly advise against it. We wallpapered everything, including the ceilings, and painted everything twice, and you can still see the transitions when the light comes in.

But if you don’t care about that, well then just try it in one room. As for me, I’m glad we wallpapered.

We are currently working on it too ...

Our putty expert (plasterer shortly before retirement) has puttied the entire hut twice ... afterwards, painter's fleece / smooth fleece ... or whatever you want to call it ... will go on top and I am really glad to have chosen this option ... it's not exactly cheap but it seems to be worth it.

Ceiling has been filled to Q3 standard - primed and painted directly. Walls: filled to Q3 standard and then painter's fleece applied and painted twice. The painter's fleece in our case is not only on the filled areas but on the entire wall. So basically like wallpaper.
