Hello dear forum members,
please forgive me for the somewhat anecdotal style of this post at the beginning. The underlying question is meant seriously.
My partner and I just visited a kitchen specialist dealer. Apart from the fact that all warnings regarding the budget turned out to be true (15,000 EUR instead of 10,000 EUR), it was a nice experience.
During the consultation, the conversation eventually turned to the topic of dishwashers and that ours is actually always full, either with dirty or with clean dishes.
Then the kitchen specialist joked that we would need two. We laughed and continued planning, of course, just with one.
A few days later, I'm still thinking about it. There is something to it.
You fill the dishwasher, and when it finally finishes after 2 hours, you empty it just so that 15 minutes later the dishes are in use again and another 15 minutes later put back in.
Often, we take half the dishes directly from the dishwasher for use. When the dishwasher really needs to be emptied, it's usually only because there is new used dishes and there isn’t much left inside.
Could it even be really practical to have two dishwashers from this perspective? You save one unloading step into cabinets, where often only half the dishes the cabinet is meant for are stored anyway. Two drawers and a cutlery tray don’t actually take up that much more space in a dishwasher. And it’s not that much more expensive either...
This of course mostly applies to regularly used dishes and cutlery and "normal" pans and pots.
The asparagus pot and the crepe pan would still have to be put away normally.
Besides the fact that it contradicts any established custom...
Crazy idea or concept worth considering?
Best regards
Tolentino
