Hi, we want to order a cistern (about 5000 liters) on the internet, have it delivered to us, and then have it installed. It should be a concrete cistern. Since many here have probably already thought about this and gained experience, I wanted to ask you if you can give recommendations. Unfortunately, I could not find any reviews of manufacturers. I want to avoid ordering from the first Google cistern manufacturer hit who then delivers poor quality.

Hello, you will not be able to "install" a concrete cistern with 5m³ yourself. Connecting it afterwards might be possible. It weighs about 4-5 (four to five) tons! We ordered our (2 pieces) from a building materials dealer from Mall, including a house water system (Mall Tano L 5.8m³ with rainwater storage). The price was even somewhat lower than the list price on the internet. The excavation had to be provided by the builder. The price of the cistern included delivery and lowering into the excavation (Text: Inkl. Abladen / Versetzen in die Baugrube vom Lieferfahrzeug..). The connection was then done by the construction company that also made the foundation slab; they had also laid the drainage pipes. Everything went well with the delivery and lowering. The quality also looks good so far. It will only be put fully into operation around August when we move in. So we do not have further experiences yet.

So I admit that I’ve thought about every damn thing... but never about the manufacturer of the concrete cistern. Maybe that’s because we used individual contracting and our shell builder is not the type to add special surcharges. The bill of quantities just said concrete cistern 5 cubic meters to be delivered and installed, etc.

Manufacturer? Type? No idea. The thing is buried underground and will probably be one of the parts of the construction with the longest lifespan... whether it comes from the concrete plant "ConcreteforLife" or the concrete plant "NiederschlotzbacherBetonundZementwerkManufaktur"... I’m not so sure if that’s the question of questions for the client, if you know what I mean!? ;)

Understood, thanks for the answers, we are basically done with the house construction and now want to install the cistern retrospectively. It is not excluded that someone is completely dissatisfied (or very satisfied) after several years of use. That is what I had hoped for.

let it be done before the path is paved and the construction road could also help and double the volume remains as excavation. The internet is unreliable, DHL does not deliver them. So briefly, hire a company and don't forget the connection pipes. With us, the civil engineer/paver did it

Better to make the cistern bigger. That way you can also take advantage of heavy rain and buffer it. If plastic is also okay, check out Graf cisterns. We are satisfied with our 76,000 liter submarine.
