Order a chimney sweep - When should they come for the first time?

Hello,

we are planning a gas boiler (+ solar collector) as well as a wood stove.

Our house is currently in shell construction. The intermediate ceiling has just been installed and the masonry work on the upper floor has begun. At the same time, of course, the chimney was also built up from below.

At what point do I need to call the chimney sweep to inspect and approve the whole thing?

Thank you

At the time when he also takes over the heating. A piece of cake.

Edit: it may be that our site manager met with the building savings contract after the chimney was built...

You should distinguish between "must" and "should". Must, as ypg said. Should very early on, to discuss topics such as chimney, combustion site, external air supply, residential ventilation, underpressure monitor, etc. with him. You don't want the house to be finished and then the chimney sweep has concerns about your combustion site or the chimney. The chimney sweep also appreciates a conversation or appointment on the construction site and does not charge for it.

Hello,

I went through everything with the chimney sweep before construction began and he gave us very useful tips, also pointing out the required distances to the neighbors' chimneys (regarding height) and the pressure monitor (because of the extractor hood).

That was good, because we had to move the chimney a bit so that we would be allowed to use it; otherwise, we would have had a chimney that we are not allowed to use.

When everything was finished and the stove was connected, he came by for the fireplace inspection.

Indeed, the chimney sweep is actually happy when he is allowed to assist early on with advice and help. He is the man who gladly likes to be "bothered".

I felt the same way in our first house: the chimney sweep also thought it was very good to be involved as early as possible!
