Good evening,

our single-family house will have a Hörmann LPU42 sectional door installed, along with a Berner GA203 drive with 2 remote controls.

What is the most elegant method to install a switch for the door in the hallway? I imagine a up/down switch there that I can operate when I leave the house (yes, I know the remote control would also work, but I just like "fancy" solutions...).

On Berner's website, I only find remote controls under accessories.

It seems to be a radio indoor push button. However, I cannot quite figure out how it is set up. Does anyone happen to know it, and can it be easily "paired" like a remote control?

That would probably also be the cheaper solution than running a cable from the drive to the house...

Thanks in advance!

Best regards, Elias

If you can solder, and the distance between the gate/button is not too great, then I would disassemble the remote control and solder cables to the button contact. Then you buy a standard button from your switch program and connect it to the two cables and install the whole thing in a flush-mounted box.

The position of the switch should be chosen carefully with regard to accidental triggering (children, visitors, delirium, ...).

If you cannot come to terms with the idea of "hacking" the remote control, you can also buy radio transmitters and receivers independently from the gate's remote control. There are two options:

1.) Transmitter in a flush-mounted housing with button and matching receiver directly connected to the gate drive. There will be terminals to which an open/close signal can be connected.
2.) With a bit of luck, the transmitter signal matches the gate, and you can program your gate with the transmitter. Everything is on the same frequency (868.3 MHz). Take a look at ELDAT.

Hi Philipp, thanks a lot! That definitely helps me. At least I know what you mean. I can't solder (yet), but maybe this is a good opportunity to learn :)

I honestly cannot imagine a gate operator that would be controllable ONLY by radio commands (it would probably have to be really very Made in Thai One).

There are indoor push buttons, fingerprint scan systems, transponder buttons from Berner… (Ok, they wouldn’t win a design award…. but would hide it anyway a bit)

Thank you. I will read up on it a bit more. But there seem to be plenty of possibilities!
