Hello,
our planned single-family house needs to be plastered and painted on the inside - for this, the walls are first plastered/sanded, then a fiberglass fleece is applied, and then it is painted (correct me if I'm wrong). I had now calculated about 680 sqm of wall and ceiling area (160 sqm living space). Now I receive an offer of 2900 EUR; material and labor included. That can’t be right, can it?!

Best regards
Nilorac

Have read that painting costs 5 EUR per sqm...? So do you find that realistic?

And what have you read about spackling? That is very time-consuming!

I hope you don't find this price too high. In my eyes, this price is far too low, which would make me suspicious. To putty and sand around 600 sqm, two craftsmen worked for 5 days with us. Painting and wallpapering the entire area would have taken another 5 days. That would be 160 working hours. That means at your price €18.50 per hour. For that, you get a black-market worker, but no reputable company. And if the material is supposed to be included as well... never ever. We had an offer: approximately €6000 for wallpapering and painting the entire area. (Also 600 sqm). Doing it ourselves with two weeks of work, we managed it for €1000.

With my question "why not" I wanted to express exactly the concerns of my predecessors. If it is a reputable painting company, they also use brand-name products and not 12€ paint from AxxI. Of course, that costs more. In addition, there are the labor hours, machine hours, travel, etc. Anyone who has ever filled, sanded, filled again, sanded again, and then painted several hundred square meters of walls and ceilings knows how much work that is. I think a backing fleece is planned. Why is that? It is actually unnecessary with well-filled gypsum plasterboards.

I would recommend checking the offer, possibly obtaining a second one, and if everything is in order for the price: congratulations on this favorable offer.
