Hello everyone,
we are currently building and "tearing down and doing it new" is not really an option. The problem situation is as follows:
- Electrical installation in the exterior wall
- Preservation of the vapor barrier
- Wall structure is diffusion-open
As you can see, there is no installation level, but there are prefabricated cable ducts in the exterior walls.
- According to the construction management, the ducts can be "broken out" (more pictures to follow)
- Only windproof boxes are used
- I am doing the electrical installation wiring
- The cable ducts in the exterior walls are closed at the back and sides by wooden beams or OSB boards
In reality, it looks like this:
- Wall entry
- "Breakout" from the cable duct due to the number of boxes

I don’t have this “breakout” from the cable duct often, but it does exist. Additionally, there is the situation that two boxes are next to each other and they fit into the cable duct without me breaking out of the duct (so I only cut the "guide beam"). Now it is also the case that I do not necessarily see the duct itself as a vapor barrier since there are some places where the "guide beams" (that’s what I simply call the vertical beams that are not load-bearing) do not lie directly against the OSB board on the inside... since everything was stapled, nothing was pulled tight against the wall there.
Now the question for me is how do I properly and securely close the (necessarily) penetrated vapor barrier? According to the site manager, the wall entries should simply be foamed out with construction foam and otherwise only windproof boxes should be used and everything will be fine. However, that doesn’t seem right to me. Honestly, so much is wrong with us that I also have a certain trust issue with that statement.
On the other hand, I can hardly fill all the "duct entries" completely with something like Isover DoubleFit, since I squeeze at least one cartridge per entry to make it tight all around.
I thought I would additionally seal the box holes all around with DoubleFit (or similar) and then simply push in the windproof boxes (yes, they then stay where they are).
For drill holes/wall fixings, I will also fill the drill hole with DoubleFit (or similar) and insert a plug there or, where possible, carry out the fastening on a vertical beam.
Any other recommendations? Is there any foam or similar that supports me here? Are there any particularly recommended products?
Thanks in advance
Best regards
