Hello community, I have a terrace roof of about 45sqm. I have a building permit including static calculations etc. Now I plan to glass in part of the terrace and convert it into a kind of conservatory. The room is to be used as a "cold room," the glazing would remain under 75cbm. My question now is, do I need another building application for this in NRW? Does anyone have information on this?

So according to the internet, conservatories up to 30m² in NRW are exempt from permits. And even if it were 45m² – I would just do it. No plaintiff, no judge.

Do you actually mean 75m³ or m²?
Is there a small sketch or photos available?

I would rather not do it without permission: insurance if something happens, risk of dismantling, and much more.

Should the whole thing be properly sealed and remain unheated, or only "as good as sealed"? Then it would rather be a summer garden.

I mean 75 cubic meters. The conservatory should be properly sealed, with windows, etc. Access to the house, and so on. However, it should not be heated. The area is approximately about 8x3.5, with a covered terrace of 3.5x4.

If the area is 8x3.5m, it is exempt from approval, the volume is not relevant for this. The requirement is, of course, a 3m distance from the boundary. But I would measure again carefully, it is quite close to the 30m² limit.
