We initially had it quite bad as well, even though we live out in the sticks, we heard the wind so clearly like never before. In our case, the visible roof structure and the insulation with PIR are certainly part of the cause; it was also due to the initially rather weak insulation in the area of the eaves/rafters cavities. In the meantime, we have filled some areas or cavities afterwards with blown-in insulation, and we also have various carpets on the wooden floor. Now it is no longer a problem, but of course it is different from a "typical" house. It surely is not due to just one reason, and ultimately you can only find out gradually or counteract it through some of the possibilities mentioned here. What kind of floors do you have? Walls, pictures, rugs, furniture, etc., all these are things that change the incoming sound or make it behave differently. Maybe you could describe the current condition more precisely or illustrate it with pictures. For us, nothing disturbing came through the "normal" windows, but rather over the roof with 24cm insulation or through uninsulated cavities.

Sand-lime brick or filling would probably have helped with noise-sensitive people. Unfortunately, you usually don't know in advance. It was discussed very thoroughly here .

I have the street about 10 m away Poroton without filling and normal double glazing. Many windows in the living room. I hear the fan from the laptop and the clock on the wall ticking. But not the trucks. If a window is open, it looks completely different then. Either you get used to the environment or you have to find something else.

Of course, that is not correct. You may not consciously perceive the truck, that may be. I lived for 4 years directly on the main road with a tram, and sometimes I woke up at night when the rail grinder with warning lights passed by, but otherwise not.

Of course, you hear the truck when the street is 10 m away, even with closed windows, if you concentrate on it. Everything else is simply objectively wrong. And that is apparently the problem here, it is a new building and you pay attention to every noise. It usually fades with time... otherwise you have a problem.

But as I said before, you will simply have to get used to some noises. And that includes the noise on the terrace from the nearby federal road. Therefore... I still don’t understand how someone can move to the federal road if they are sensitive to noise.

when I turn off the laptop and ignore the ticking of the clock, you can hear the truck but so quietly that it is impossible to perceive it as disturbing. At least not for us. However, I have to say that I treated myself to a small wall with lush vegetation.

I also have a hedge; once it is 2m high, it will dampen the noise from the street, yes. But not in the bedroom on the upper floor, which is 6m in a straight line from the street. And that's evidently what this is about, it bothers me in the bedroom, it generally bothers me on the upper floor. They should have built differently for soundproofing, especially the sound transmission through the cold roof and the upper floor ceiling is underestimated. This applies especially to the noise between rooms on the upper floor. No matter how thick the sand-lime brick interior wall is, a suspended ceiling with drywall is a perfect sound bridge.
