Hello everyone

We want to replace our old oil heating system. We have a single-family house with underfloor heating. We already have some offers.

Oil prices have risen sharply in the past, or how long the reserves will last since extraction is becoming more difficult with the depletion of deposits. Also, no one knows how electricity prices will develop with the planned phase-out of nuclear power. What would you recommend to us... oil again or an air/water heat pump?

We have received offers for the following systems. Do you know any of these systems or have personal experience with them (especially in the last winter, which was very cold)?

Oil heating:
- Thermix from Walter Meier
- Sixmadun TG 12 Eigenkapital

Air/water heat pump (outdoor installation):
- Sixmadun SMLA-XP-16TAS
- Stiebel Eltron WPL 18 E
- Alpha Innotec LA101A

Many thanks for your feedback!

Hello Samy12 My opinion: oil was, is, and will always be the cheapest! Last year I installed a new oil heating system in a house. This year it’s another house’s turn. Also replacing oil with oil. Both times with Elco, whom I am very satisfied with. I don’t know any others. Yes, and in my opinion, the oil will always flow. Have a nice evening wishes Dämmunsinn

Hello samy12,

a floor heating system requires a fairly low supply temperature, which makes the use of a heat pump appear advisable. However, a professional should make a proposal based on the temperature data of your location so that the heat pump operates with the highest possible coefficient of performance.
The coefficient of performance depends on the temperature difference to be overcome between the heat source and the heating system. Therefore, a low supply temperature is advantageous, but as mentioned, the heat source (temperature profile of the air at your location) must be integrated into the system configuration. After all, you do not want to constantly have to heat with electricity. Therefore, a heat pump should not simply be purchased or ordered without consideration.

Whether oil, as Dämmunsinn claims, will always flow can be doubted. In this respect, a heating system that operates independently of fossil fuels would be promising for the future.
