That's basically true. On the other hand, there are providers (such as esave) that automatically transfer you every year to the cheapest provider while you always keep the bonus. Your own effort is quite minimal in this case.
... and in the end, you are still better off than with a regular contract. A new customer bonus is also available with almost all major providers. I always gladly take it, currently with Vattenfall, which was the cheapest provider calculated over a year.The whole principle is pointless because there is (almost) nothing to "take with you." You only get reimbursed for excessively high discounts.
