Hello everyone,

we would like to build a semi-detached house next year.

Currently, we are considering how to fundamentally design the bathroom.

In the pictures, you can see our first sketches made on graph paper.

The bathroom has about 16sqm of space.

For the wall drawn above the toilet, we were thinking of a height of 0.9m (similar to the window sill height).

I would be very happy to receive feedback or alternative suggestions on this.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Christian

I would first correct the templates. The frame for the toilet and washbasin is approximately 15cm deep. A washbasin is about 50cm x 60cm, the toilet about 70cm long. I would never take a bathtub under 1.80m, there are also storage platforms, possibly behind or next to it - for placing knick-knacks or washing items.

You realize that a window over 3m wide in the bathroom allows for significant "insights," right? I also find a lot of light in the bathroom very nice, but if on the side it's not exactly "just forest" and "not visible," I would reconsider that first. I think it's a bit different to be observed from outside in the kitchen (when it gets darker, the light is sometimes on even though the shutters are not yet down) or in the bathroom. With more wall, you also have somewhat better options for how to arrange the objects. Should the shower be separated only with glass or with an opaque wall?

Hello,

thank you very much in advance for your feedback.

First, I have corrected the sizes of the objects.

The window width is based on the window width of the window located on the ground floor below, for the most uniform facade design possible. The bathroom is on the first floor. The window currently has a planned sill height of 90 cm. In front of the house, there are still 5.5 m of our property including enclosure. After that comes a footpath. There is no house with an upper floor opposite. I hope that this will keep the views within limits. For shading, we would like to use blinds.

For the shower, we initially thought mostly of glass walls. However, I am not quite sure whether partially opaque walls might be better.

Best regards,

Christian

A different window format doesn't have to look bad, it can even add tension. Vertical lines are used anyway. If necessary, divide it. But first, utility and functionality must be prioritized - only then comes the appearance of the facade. I don't see a problem there at all, rather with this huge window - it's uncomfortable when you're standing in the bathroom.

There is certainly something to that. What would your ideal window placement for the room look like, disregarding the other windows? However, to the left, a minimum distance of 1.25m to the neighbor must be maintained.

Maybe 2x 1m windows or a higher sill height, or something completely different?

Thank you very much.
