Hello everyone,

we just received a "good" tip from an acquaintance regarding electricity in a single-family house.

What do you think about motion detectors in the hallway/corridor areas in the basement/ground floor/upper floor? Does that make sense?

--> Why?? ---> To save changeover switches, as these are no longer needed!

I basically don't see any real disadvantages in not doing it. Have you already thought about it or even firmly planned it?

What can you save with this? I currently don't have a price for a changeover switch, but I will ask for it soon.

Actually quite good, but then you have to use ones that also have a clock / light detection, so that they do not switch during the day if unnecessary. I don’t know if the motion sensor switches always have that.

I would say that you will rather pay more since motion detectors/switches are more expensive than the regular switches. Estimated to be about a factor of 10 compared to a switch (that's how I know it from Gira).

Savings are already possible. But the most important thing is that with suitable detectors, you never have to switch anything manually again.

btw. Motion detectors and co. in passage areas and bathrooms, etc. are really nothing unusual and completely everyday.

We did this above for the hallway area. Can only report back in a few weeks. But it looks fancy and wasn’t that expensive. You’re looking at 150-200€, maybe even cheaper? One should consider pets, they might accidentally turn it on at night.

Since we have pets, something like that is out of the question for us. I don't like systems where I have no choice. What if I want to sneak through there in the dark? I guess I'm old-fashioned and want to decide myself when the light turns on and when it doesn't.
