Hello everyone,

I need unbiased experiences, please. We are currently waiting for the financing confirmation from the bank. But now I am starting to worry a bit about not being financially able to handle everything. We want to build a house, the loan costs will probably be around 1200. We would move to [Dort] (located near a small town) and have 3 children. Our income is about 3960 euros per month. I don’t want to move into the house and then have to live on a construction site forever because we don’t have enough money to make progress. Or not be able to treat ourselves to a vacation once a year or do activities with the kids. Do you know what I mean? Are there perhaps people here who have a similar situation and can share their experiences with me?

Kind regards

To assess your starting position, more information is needed. Is there an expense/income list? How old are the children, how old are you? How is the financing structured? Is your budget planning reasonable? Whether you can sleep peacefully depends on all of this. Not on the 1200 Euro installment.

3960-1200=2760 This calculation can probably be done by anyone. Whether that is enough depends on you and your lifestyle. Insurance, car, hobbies, food, clothes, and so on. You need to provide more information to be able to assess all of this.

Haven't done a cash check yet? Rate 1200€, additional costs 400(500)€ (we just had that). Income of 3960€—how is that composed? Without a list of all known and probably also unknown factors, hardly anything can be said, except that it looks "tight." Is the "hut" also fully financed with the 1200€ rate, or does it mean, "We’ll do outdoor facilities/garage etc. later?"

Basically yes. Whether you will be happy with it also depends on how much you have financed with this rate and whether everything is really included. Vacation doesn’t have to be expensive. Campsite is great for kids and costs almost nothing ;)

Should work, but it depends on how expensive your hobbies are.
