ooh, I didn't know that chocolate kills mice. I will get some cheese today and try that instead. I don't want the creatures to be tortured either. :(

Unfortunately, we also only learned this through trial & error and looked it up later when we removed mice from the motorhome last year.

There are many different types of mice. In the garden shed, where they once attacked the crocuses prepared for planting, I caught four species in one day. House mice eat food prepared by humans, field mice do not. Field mice only eat what occurs in nature. Our field mice leave all human food alone, but for example, they take freshly shelled walnuts. That smells good and they know it. We succeed in catching them with live traps, with snap traps they steal the bait out with delicate paws without triggering the trap. Good luck!

Best regards Gabriele

Hello fach1werk

I have never experienced that. In 95% of cases, the mouse is immediately dead. No mouse has ever managed to steal bait without triggering. Once I had one where the bar hit the shoulder and the mouse tried to escape.
How do you kill the mice from the live trap?

Steven

Not at all. I take them into the forest.
