My experience with a rat was that it liked neither cheese nor French air-dried salami, but only started nibbling on a dry end piece of a baguette and then bit into the grass with it.
I feed some hedgehogs. Cat food. From time to time a rat comes for the charity feeding. Since I have a wildlife camera in the hedgehog house, I can see that. Set up a live rat trap and put cat food inside. The next day dispose of the rat. Wow. Those creatures are really aggressive.
I set up a live trap. But they don’t go in. :(The trap is baited with Nutella.. But probably better not to put poison behind the baseboards but hope that they still come out and eventually go into the trap?
There are already 4 traps (2 live traps and 2 traditional snap traps) baited with Nutella and dark chocolate set up in the room.
If the mice went for them, they would die. Chocolate causes the animals to perish, so you don’t need live traps then. Cheese tastes good to mice and is not harmful.
(why is it called Mausefallen and not Mäusefallen?)
A Mausefalle is a trap for one mouse. The plural of Falle is Fallen. That’s why it’s called Mausefallen. A car parade -> several car parades and not "Autoskorsos".
