Hello everyone,

I am currently planning my electrical installation and wondering:

How can I most easily digitally record the electricity consumption of the entire house? Preferably with minute-level accuracy. Can you recommend hardware with an (open) interface? What I do not want is a smart meter that sends the data directly to my electricity supplier.
What do you use for your smart homes?

Best regards
Tassimat

Intermediate meter with S0 interface on the DIN rail. A data logger of your choice connected to it.

Find out which electricity meter is installed by the metering point operator. These usually contain an IR interface today. This is an optical data interface D0, which transmits information in SML format. This gives you more information than with a "normal" S0 interface. You can read and log the D0 interface with an IR reading head (optocoupler) and e.g. a Raspberry Pi (cheaper than a good S0 meter). If necessary, your metering point operator must activate this. Check out volkszaehler online.

If you get a photovoltaic/heat pump system, their generation/consumption should be recorded separately. What makes the most sense depends on the devices.

Unfortunately, it is the case that the meters from the supplier do not offer any advantages for the end customer or the functions are disabled. Reading S0 is also cheaper with commercial solutions than D0. If you want to tinker yourself, it might be different.

I also have an S0 meter, plus a Solarlog. It then shows the current consumption (and production for me) in real time. The S0 meter cost a few euros. The most expensive part was still the Solarlog, maybe there are cheaper solutions.

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I need. It slipped my mind while searching. With this keyword, I find a lot of good information and hardware. Very nice.

I do not have [Photovoltaik und Wärmepumpe]. As soon as it comes to the actual meter, I will make sure that it can do that. Alternatively, a second meter is installed behind the supplier's meter. At first glance, you can fit it fairly compactly into the cabinet.
