MALM Ikea bed

Hello everyone,

I have a question. My husband and I want to buy a new bed, and we are thinking about the Malm bed from Ikea. So far, we haven't gotten around to going to Ikea, so my question is:

How long is the bed frame? We have a niche in the room that is 2.09 meters wide. Would a bed fit there crosswise? The mattress is already 200 cm long. So how about the frame? Unfortunately, we can't go to Ikea anytime soon. Maybe someone here can help us?! That would be great!

The MALM bed is, I think, about 210 cm long... but I'm not entirely sure. So it could be very tight.

Maybe someone can measure it when they go to IKEA again? Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it this week either.

If your niche is only 2.09m, there will most likely be problems. I wouldn't risk it. The bed is at least 210cm when assembled. Even if it should work, keep in mind that the wood expands and needs some space.

Thank you very much for the information. Then we will probably take a metal bed or have to place the bed the other way around in the niche. That might not be bad either, then there would still be room for bedside tables. We'll see, anyway thank you very much Lukas!

Malm has the problem anyway that IKEA was extremely stingy with the width of the metal rails and thus slatted frames do not properly rest and tend to slip through.
