Hello friends, Now the time is almost here, winter is just around the corner. I would like to somehow make my lawn winter-proof, if that is even possible. I have heard that you should still mow, fertilize, and scarify the lawn now, then the lawn will be especially nice in spring.

You actually don't need to winterize the lawn. Mow it now and that's it. The snow cover is the optimal protection for the lawn. The rest is no longer in your hands.

All the best.

Anyone who wants to get their lawn through the winter well should fertilize again in autumn so that enough nutrients are available for the cold period. When it freezes, you should no longer walk on the lawn because otherwise the blades of grass break off and that is not good.

The best winter protection for the lawn is when a continuous snow cover lies. Then the lawn is optimally protected and can wait undisturbed until spring. It is not so good when it is very cold and no snow lies, then you should better not walk on the lawn, because that could lead to damage.

If you cleanly remove the leaves, the lawn usually shouldn't suffer much. However, you should avoid having too much snow in one spot; often people shovel the snow into the garden, and then in spring you get a bare patch in the lawn at that spot.

The thread is a bit older, but the topic is still relevant. I also wondered how to make my lawn winter-proof because it is so WARM. Basically the opposite of your problem.

While searching, I came across a good article. For example, I would never have thought that on warmer days you must not forget to water because the plants do not freeze but can dry out from the warm sunlight!

Enjoy your hopefully soon blossoming garden!
