Hello, is a maintenance contract for a residential ventilation system worth it? And what should it cost, I have 5 units in the apartment. Or can you save that and regularly replace the filters yourself? After what period should they be replaced and are there cheaper filter options than those from the manufacturer? Thank you for your effort. Regards, Dani

I have no experience with it yet, but the consensus here is to do it yourself. Most people probably still use the filters from the manufacturer, but you can apparently even cut them out yourself from larger mats.

You can actually do that yourself quite well. Is it a central or decentralized system. I have a central system. Every three months I rinse the filters of the exhaust air valves once (that’s two simple steps per valve) and vacuum the large filter in the central unit (you just pull it out). The latter is then replaced once a year. The effort is overall completely minimal.

You can easily cut the regular filters from mats (except maybe filter cartridges for the central system). It only costs a fraction.

Better to take care of it yourself :) The technician himself recently told me that while he would recommend the maintenance contract/warranty extension for the heat pump, he could not recommend the same for the controlled residential ventilation. Basically, money thrown away.
