Hey guys,

we are currently planning our small house and are facing the big question of which type of heating system we should choose?

Gas + domestic hot water heating
LWW
Geothermal energy

I have gathered plenty of information about the different types. It is also clear that the acquisition costs vary.

Which type of heating is the most economical in ongoing operation?

Here are a few key data
KFW-55
Approx. 140m2
Controlled ventilation system
Underfloor heating ground floor + upper floor

Many thanks for your tips

Hi,

when it comes to ongoing operating costs, I would definitely go for geothermal energy.

We built last year, also with geothermal energy, and have now experienced our first winter. I record the daily electricity consumption and the heating output and compare them in an Excel spreadsheet.

Where it was really cold here, down to -14°C outside, we had a consumption between 20 and 25 kWh per day. At 17 cents per kWh, that's between €3.40 and €4.25.

Now that the outside temperature is between 0°C and 10°C, the consumption is only between 9 kWh and 16 kWh. I think you can’t operate more cheaply in winter.

The annual performance factor varies between 3.93 and 4.27.

Our key data:
KFW55
170 m²
Controlled ventilation system
Underfloor heating ground floor + upper floor

Regards
Michael

Thank you very much for your values. Does anyone here still have comparative values with LWW and gas?

I now have a concrete offer from our company, where in the end only the decision is missing which type of heating (and whether clinker yes or no but I can manage that alone )

Gas incl. solar incl.
LWW approx. €3500
Geothermal approx. €13000

No problem, but I don't quite understand your offer. Gas including solar and also heat pump for 3500€? Why actually gas and heat pump together? Regards Michael

No sorry, that is 1 item per paragraph

So
- Gas is included in my offer
- LWW 3500€ (instead of Gas)
- Geothermal 13000€ (instead of Gas)

Take a look at the funding options; you can then deduct these from the corresponding costs. We received our funding for the brine/water heat pump last week in the amount of €5,000. For LWW, I think there is significantly less.
