Hello,
we have bought a little house and now want to address some structural issues in addition to the energy renovation.
Regarding the attached picture, my question:
As it currently appears, the garage integrated in the basement is only usable to a limited extent. The picture was taken from the garage opening and it is only 3.86 m to the start of the stairs. Between the left wall and the stairs there are 2.35 m. This would mean that the car would have to be parked slightly diagonally and since the garage door opening is quite narrow, at least my wife would definitely have a problem with it.
The easiest solution in my estimation would be to tear down the side wall of the stairs and install a winder staircase rotated 180 degrees and then drive with the car hood under the staircase slope. But then I would run into the wall upstairs in the ground floor. So I need about 90 cm more space, but the stair opening cannot be enlarged due to the room layout on the ground floor.
The idea would be to install a U-shaped staircase with a 90-degree turn at the beginning and end with a somewhat longer middle flight and have the first two steps cantilevered into the space under the stair opening so that the head clearance of 2 m is still sufficient. I have found 2 online calculators at Treppenportal and Kalk. Are there any others, better ones, where I could try this out?
Does anyone have another/better idea on this?
Thank you,
Dirk
