Well, not really. In the 2018 to 2019 generation, Apple switched from under 10 to over 10. The Basalte mount isn’t exactly cheap. When switching an iPad, it’s not out of the question that the mount also needs to be replaced, right? Edit: I just looked it up, for the Air that thing costs more at Fluss than an iPad. The Air was only recently revived. So it could disappear just as quickly again.

No, it isn’t. But such changes, as history shows, don’t happen very often. And if they do, you just keep the thing for a few years. You don’t need the latest hardware just to run a single app. On top of that, Apple still provides regular updates for comparatively old devices. So I wouldn’t worry about that. However, if spending money every 6-7 years is too much for you, you might not be a Basalte customer. The frames are also available cheaper, just not as nice.

Edit: I also just checked... an iPad Air 2 from 2014 still gets the latest iPad OS today!

Let's put it this way, my computer has cost me 3.5K euros purely for fun. My speakers have cost me a lot of money. Our mattress + frame have cost us a lot of money. Etc... But a tablet holder that I have to walk up to, while I could also go to a table, or that thing often just lies where I hang out anyway and that costs as much as an iPad itself, actually doesn't make me become a Basalte customer. To keep the analogy to my computer, I would never come up with the idea to get a 3K € case for the expensive hardware. It was an expensive, functional case, yes. But it accounted for "only" 5% of the total price. And I can use it "forever". But so what, that's fine. Everyone to their own taste. I've learned something about Basalte. So there’s value in the brief discussion.

Isn't it economically excessive to mount an iPad on the wall for the video of the intercom system?

How about the battery actually? Does it like being plugged in all the time?

Permanently keeping the charge at 100% is absolutely not ideal, but in practice, it doesn't matter at all.

Why uneconomical? Of course, you can also take any Android tablet. Then it's just Android. If you mean tablets in general: Have you ever checked what something like that costs at Siedle?

I think the question is whether it is disproportionate to hang a tablet on the wall just for one application.
