Hello Sylvia, yes, we had an expert with us. The house is from 1910, was technically completely renovated in 1993 (but still has stucco, pitch pine, frames, doors, window sashes) and only needs a proper renovation (estimated at 75 TEUR). I have received the offers by now, all are below my budget estimates, the calculation adds up. Otherwise: Yes, such an old house is a permanent construction site, real money will have to be sunk into it at regular intervals, we have already planned generously for that, we want to be nice to the house. I wish you and your family lots of luck, strength, and fun with the house. And if it sometimes seems like things aren’t moving forward for a moment, then imagine yourself and your family in the garden or at Christmas at the dining table. Then the strength will be enough again for the next period ;-) .

My life has changed very positively since we have had ours from 1936 and shaped it the way we wanted.

I like that attitude! Some houses constantly need a caring hand - if you see it that way and make a hobby out of it - my respect :)

Hello everyone,

we took over our house on 14.11.2014, and move-in is on Friday, 23.01.2015. In the meantime, quite a lot has been done to the house; it has become pretty nice. The outdoor area still needs to be done, at the moment there is a lack of time and ideas. Besides the usual renovation work, we also "inherited" a few repair jobs from the previous owner and had a bunch of additional work carried out (when you're already at it... the saying indeed...). We were consistently very satisfied with the craftsmen, they also coordinated very well among themselves, so we only had to closely supervise the execution. It is truly a pleasure to see the result of good craftsmanship. The bank advisor's tip ("Old house? Better take a few more euros as a reserve...") was absolutely right, otherwise my cash reserve would have shrunk considerably.

Have a nice Sunday (my last one in the old house)
Lars

So, Sunday, 01/23/2015 is move-in day. Everything went well, the craftsmen did top-notch work. I didn’t think renovating could be so much fun. The budget of course wasn’t enough, but thanks to my bank advisor, I had planned a reserve. We went around inside once, the outdoor areas will follow later.

Have a nice Sunday (my last one in the old house).

All the best in your new home. May you wake up every morning and once again rejoice in what you have created for yourselves.
