First of all, thank you for the answers.

Anyway, we will build the garden house no matter what. It is part of our plans.

The question was more about the costs associated with a "proper" water connection.

We don't want to rent an apartment for a year as a temporary solution. At the moment we live rent-free and would gladly put the monthly rent burden into our future house^^.

The idea of a camper, camping equipment is a very interesting idea. I will take a look at that.

Otherwise, I don't understand the reaction of some commentators. Isn't it nice to spend a night in a poorly insulated, cool wooden hut on hot summer days?

And it should only be in the summer. We will continue to live in the apartment, only sometimes sleep in the garden.

The idea came from a colleague. He himself lives in an apartment in Hannover. But he also has a community garden and sometimes spends the night there in summer.

Then let it be explained to you:

A contradiction in itself: on hot summer days a poorly insulated wooden cabin is humid, stuffy, and warm, where no one wants to sleep.

And where do you want to fail?

A "proper" water connection is "proper" and costs what a proper one costs. In addition, you then need a functioning sewage system. And all of that would be somewhat too complicated when it comes to a garden house. Furthermore, everything must be approved.
However, you are free to take the garden hose in hand if there is an existing water supply.

Your thinking is currently shaped only by the romance of a hot summer... 70s, campsite, first love... thus somewhat naive and causes amusement.

I see it differently than . I know life in a small space from our motorhome (panel van). With it, we could wonderfully be on tour for weeks, if time allowed. Several months in it – I would find that OK.

The advantage of a motorhome would be that unlike in a caravan, the entire living infrastructure is already inside: shower with warm water, bed, kitchen, heating, refrigerator, toilet, radio, TV, internet via mobile network or neighbor's WLAN. Then a 220V power cable from the construction power connection is enough, empty the toilet cassette every few days (or rent a porta-potty) and a little gas.

Invest at least 20,000 euros for a technically good and appealing vehicle. If you want to get rid of the vehicle later, you will at most suffer only minimal depreciation.

For me, it’s only about the garden house or the OP’s questions.

A motorhome obviously has advantages, but it is not a great, uninsulated garden house with a proper water connection.

To your plans = the proverbial counting your chickens before they hatch?

That exceeds both the limits of what can be built without a permit and what can be built on the borderline, and it needs a spot within the building window. It also has to comply with the Energy Saving Ordinance, and a permit process wouldn’t be cheaper, so it would be advisable to submit it together with the main house – but then the cat bites its own tail again, because the permit planning for the main house would also have to be finished beforehand. A built 24 sqm tent as a pool house might fit the size of the property, but financially it’s only adequate if it’s a double-income household with at least one person on pay grade B (both A14 is also fine) – otherwise there would be a Dacia next to it, in the sense of another current thread
